‘Tis the Season for Allergies

Spring brings rain showers, colorful flowers and allergies. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America placed Dallas at No. 7 on its 2014 list of worst cities for spring allergy sufferers.

Our unseasonably cold winter may have caused the uptick in itchy eyes and runny noses. Many experts say the polar vortex delayed the flowering of trees and plants, leading them to grow faster and create more allergens.

Dr. Maurice Alazar, an internal medicine specialist on the medical staff at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne, and Dr. Ranbir Sharma, a pediatrician also on the Texas Health Cleburne medical staff, shared tips for allergy relief in the April 9 edition of the Cleburne Times-Review.
